United Nations Weapons Inspector Nathan Kane expects his next mission - a visit to Cold Harbour, a research space station orbiting the Jovian moon Europa - to be dangerous. What he doesn't expect is an attack before he can even get there. It seems there's competition for the ancient artefacts discovered by Harbour's staff: The DOORS super-conglomerate has decided to wrest control of the find... and if winning means killing everyone in their path? So be it... Ocean, Warren Ellis's galaxy-spanning tale of mystery and murder, is back in a new edition collecting the entire 6-issue miniseries. A hundred years from now, mankind has extended their exploration of space as far as Jupiter and its many moons. But a discovery on Europa could end everything... When a tiny research station discovers thousands of coffins floating in the gigantic sea underneath Europa's ice covering, UN weapons inspector Nathan Kane is sent to investigate. But the massive DOORS corporation also has investigators on Europa, and soon Kane is plunged into a race to discover the secret of the coffins... a secret that could mean the end of the Universe. The most surprising aspect of Ocean is that despite it not being one of the most original tales on the planet, not to mention the fact that not very much actually happens over the story's duration, it's still a compelling read. Author Warren Ellis somehow manages to weave a tale which is far more than the sum of its parts - and that takes some doing. Chris Sprouse's artwork also helps to suck the reader in, and once there keep them turning the pages. If you don't already own this, it's well worth checking out. You won't regret it. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online |
