Antoni Maiovvi, aka Anton Maiof, aka a whole bunch of other names, is back with Caravan Recordings to release his third album, The Thorns Of Love.

This is electronic dance music infused with Italian love stories, spine-tingling Euro horror and melancholic beauty. The Thorns Of Love is said to be the Liebes-Arie to a broken heart and an embrace of Italian drama and euphoric fear.

Consisting of just 5 tracks this is short album and is anything but sweet, with shades of darkness gathered under the crevices of each song. 'Treason' is particularly dark with underlying tones of beauty played throughout the lonely piano. It's a mesmerizing tune which entices you to listen to the whole 4 mins, 13 secs of its entirety.

'This Is The Best' has an extremely naff Euro-trash feel about it. It's fast paced energy runs through the veins of the listener with an underlying ugliness in it's tones.

'Horsehead Blue' brings the album to an end and I can't say I'm sad about that. This last song is slow, very repetitive and uninspiring to the ear.

Said to be electronic dance, which I wont argue with, I find it hard to imagine people in clubs dancing to any of these tracks. Maybe I'm just out of touch with modern day electronica but I certainly can't see mainstream UK clubs playing out these tunes.
