Having been an artist on the music scene for 20 years, King Britt has been involved in many projects and collaborations from his time as Silkworm in the Grammy winning Digable Planets, starting Ovum Recordings with Josh Wink, producing platinum remixes for the likes of Macy Gray, Solange and Donna Lewis, to name but a few, to him starting his empire, FiveSixMedia.

A busy man indeed, King Britt, is here with his final dance album The Intricate Beauty. Although this is the last commercial dance album Britt will ever make it is his first release on Nervous Records.

Merging together the different sounds that have inspired Britt over the years can be found on this final album. A complex work of art, it is made up of tiny micro sounds that he obtained from various random recordings and CDs. He then took these pieces and dumped them into Ableton Live which is where he pieced this puzzle together again and constructed the songs musically.

Made up of 11 tracks this dance album has beats and rhythms to get those feet moving along with the vibes.

Opening this session is 'Love What You Have (Main Mix)' which I found a little too repetitive, the tune is quite slow moving which to me belongs toward the end of the track listing and not the opener. At least the rest of the tracks have a chance to outshine this one.

Loud, brash and in your face is 'Nightlife (King Britt Mix)', which is what a dance track should be. This has certainly blown life into this CD and got it moving!

'Los (Main Mix)' is an infusion of tribal beats and singing with a funky rhythm. Although this would certainly not fill the dance floor it's still a good toe tapping tune and strips the song down to the bare necessities.

'Blackhand Side' has a dark, edgy feel to it which I like. The beat is strong and hard making for a deep vibe running within this track.

An old familiar is 'Get Up (King Britt Old School Dub)' the ever familiar vocals: 'Come on get up...' are mixed to a cool funky tune which will have any club goer making their way to the dance floor.

All in all this is a pretty sound album from Britt. His followers will be shattered knowing this is his last ever dance album but fear not, King Britt intends to release all the bits and pieces from Intricate Beauty as a live pack. "These will be sounds that people can use for inspiration and production." Says Britt.
