This is not my kind of thing, let me say from the off. With my predisposition towards wearing clothes at the darker end of the spectrum and hanging around war memorials sneering at the older people (and with each passing year the older people become less and less. Before long I will be sneering through the window of an old folk’s home) this was never going to be a review where I could offer fair and honest opinions. In fact my entire review of the catalogue of Dubstep would be one word and a very lazy anagram of “HITS”. Once more, into this vast, arching crevice of a void in my knowledge of modern culture, steps work colleague and some time D.J. Joel Kingsley to offer his sage advice and also allow me to get away with at least partial plagiarism with his consent.

In the words of Joel: He did not like this at all. Eleven out of the twelve tracks are barely indistinguishable from each other. The selections of drum breaks are pulled from the same small range. The tracks lack any kind of hook that could create a vestige of interest and make any of them memorable. The styling of the track is minimal with a liberal use of reverb. The production values are pretty poor with all of the drums sounding flat and a bass that lacks both punch and depth that is the heartbeat of good Dubstep dance floor material.

On a positive note, track ten 'City Cycle' shows some initial promise with a Reggie/Dub influences guitar and vocal but failed to carry this further and returns to the same formulaic mess as the rest.

So there you have it. Due to my inflated sense of duty I too listened to all of the tracks. There’s some time I won’t be getting back. I think Joel’s comments are both fair and balanced. Avoid unless you are a big fan of vaguely irritating boredom.
