Marie Tussaud was a remarkable woman. She escaped the guillotine and survived the horrors of the French revolution. She toured the towns of Britain for thirty three hard years with her travelling wax cabinet, fighting off competition against a background of fire, riot, shipwreck and betrayal. She personified persistence, fortitude, dedication and self belief. Why does every one know of her exhibition but no one knows her story...?

Waxing Lyrical: The Story of Madame Tussaud is an interesting look at the life of Marie Tussaud and her travelling wax cabinet - which would eventually be transformed into one of London's top tourist attractions; Madame Tussaud.

The production is written and performed by Judith Paris, who plays the role of Marie, recounting events in her life in a sort of "dear diary" fashion. Paris's acting is incredibly powerful and it's impossible to not get caught up in the emotion as she fears for her life, as she was a close friend of the French royal family, during the French Revolution.

This is an interesting and entertaining release that will offer you and insight into the history of this remarkable woman.
