Blackout, the first single to be released from Anna Calvi's debut album, and I have to admit, from the tracks on offer from the album, this wasn't a bad choice for the first single.

There are two tracks on this single, 'Blackout' and 'Surrender' but as we didn't receive 'Surrender' we can't comment on it.

Calvi's vocals are strong and the song is pretty solid, apart from the warbling backing vocals which seem to wander all over the place in a rather odd style. Calvi has a very distinct flavour of Chrissie Hynde and that's a good thing.

While this track is enjoyable, don't make the mistake of purchasing the album without listening to a few more singles. There are some rather odd styles in there that might not be to your taste.
