What would you do with superpowers – and six months to live? That's the dilemma facing three people who've contracted the G+ Virus, a terrifying new STD. What can graphic designer Verity, failing indie guitarist Weasel and roguish media personality Monty do in the time they have left? Fade away – or go out in a blaze of glory...? Death Sentence is set in a near-future London in which a sexually transmitted, lethal virus is rife. Those that are infected gain unique superpowers... but the end result is always the same; around six months after contracting the disease all infected die. So far no cure is available. This first issue introduces us to three infecting individuals (a graphic designer, guitarist and media personality) and to a mysterious organisation that is tracking the infected - and forcing those with certain powers into their employ. It's an interesting premise for a series and I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops. The first issue is well plotted and the illustrations are well realised. 8 Darren Rea |
