Based on the novel by Juan Eslava Galán, La Mula is the story of a soldier who finds a mule on the battlefields and travels through the country, set against the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War. This is also composer Oscar Navarro's first full length feature film score... Oscar Navarro's score for La Mula is an interesting listen - made all the more impressive by the fact that it is his first full length feature film. From the first track, 'Historia de Amor' Navarro delivers a beautiful central theme - one which is echoed numerous times throughout this album Personal highlights include 'Historia de Amor'; 'Castro y Conchi'; and 'El Obispo', all of which house the same main theme. Other tracks of note include 'La Carta'; 'Viva Castro!' (which reminded me of the main theme from The Great Escape); 'Planes de Futuro' (which has a softer take on the main theme); 'La Guerra ha Terminado' and the beautiful 'Gran Final'. The album contains 24 tracks and lasts for approximately 53 mins. This is a beautiful score, and it was a surprise to learn that this was Navarro's first first big screen picture work. Listen out for him in the future. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
