Fresh off their adventure in Alabasta, The Straw Hats prepare to sail straight into the sky! After a death-defying adventure in the dire and dangerous Rainbow Mist, Luffy and his crew dock at Mock Town in search of directions, but instead they're brutally bullied by pirates who've forgotten how to dream. Fortunately for the sake of adventure, Nico Robin catches wind of a legendary liar whose monkey minions can equip any ship for a deadly ascent on the Knockup Stream. Hold on to your hats because the Straw Hats are about to find out if the Going Merry flies as well as she floats...!

One Piece: Collection No. 6 (2002, Eps 131 – 156) continues the madcap adventures of the Straw Hat gang on a four disc DVD set.

Little has changed in the construction of the show, the creators of the series still cut corners in the animation, with sections which either track across static images, or have very few elements actually in motion, but this is made up by the unique character design and the insane humour that permeates the whole thing.

Like most long running anime there is a certain rehashing of story elements, but they are helped by introducing new characters and mixing things up to keep your interest. The set kicks off with a series of one-off stories each highlighting a particular character, until the show settles down into the next story arc, The Sky Island Saga.

Like the previous releases in this series, you get either an English 5.1 audio track or the original Japanese 2.0 with subtitles. There are a number of extras in the set. On disc two you get a full length commentary for episode 140, as well as the textless opening and closing sequences. Disc three has a commentary for episode 144, the ultimate disc has just the textless opening and closing sequences.

It’s a set that will please One Piece fans, it may be more of the same, but the show continues to be well written, which goes some way to balancing off the animation.
