Sony Classical release Alberto Iglesias's score for Exodus: Gods and Kings. The movie tells the story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Ridley Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses, setting 400,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues...

Alberto Iglesias's score for Exodus: Gods and Kings is epic in both its construction and delivery. Straddling the line, in places, between score and classical music in its own right, this album represents a beautiful collection of themes.

The album contains 32 tracks (1 hr, 18 min, 07 sec). There's an obvious Egyptian theme which can be heard in tracks like 'Goodbyes', which brought to mind Jerry Goldsmith's music for The Mummy (1999) and David Arnold's score for Stargate (1994).

Other noteworthy tracks include the opening of 'Hittite Battle', which reminded me of Harry Gregson-Williams's opening cut sequence in Call of Duty 4; 'Returning to Memphis'; The opening to 'Goodbye' reminded me of 'Benedictus' from Karl Jenkins's The Armed Man - A Mass For Peace; 'Climbing Mount Sinai'; 'I Need a General' reminded me of James Horner's work on Cocoon and Marco Beltrami's score for Knowing; 'Exodus' (which has a vocal segment that reminded me of Hans Zimmer's 'Mermaids' from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides); 'Ramses' Insomnia'; 'Animal Deaths'; 'Into the Water'; and 'The Ten Commandments'.

There is so much to listen to here that you're bound to find something different that you'll enjoy each time you hear it. I've been listening to this almost non-stop for a week and I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.

Iglesias delivers an incredible collection of themes that should find a place in every soundtrack collector's library.
