Following on from their last album, Trials, released in 2012, Luxembourg post-rock quartet Mutiny on the Bounty release their latest LP, Digital Tropics.

The new album sees the band fully embrace their instrumental side which was heavily championed on their last album. In the writing, they take influences from rock, electro, '80s pop and even hip-hop.

While I did enjoy this album I found it a little too ridged in construction. Tracks like 'Ballet Mécanique' seem too finely tuned and so a lot of the raw sounds that make songs feel a little more "in the moment" don't come through here. It just felt a little too cold and clinically perfect; almost robotic in its delivery. What I'm trying to convey is that there seemed to be no soul or feeling to the music.

The album contains 10 tracks (45 min, 30 sec) and while this is an interesting listen, the cold, clinical approach might not be to everyones taste.
