MovieScore Media release Jacob Groth's score for Skin Trade. The movie, which stars Dolph Lundgren, Tony Jaa and Ron Perlman, is an action thriller about human trafficking. It tells the story of Nick whose previous investigation on the Russian mob left his family dead. Set on a vendetta, our hero travels to Bangkok and teams up with a Thai detective (Jaa) to bring down the human trafficking mafia in their Southeast Asian centre...

Jacob Groth's score for Skin Trade is less action/adventure than I was expecting and, given the movie's setting, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that he didn't take the tired, cliche angle of scoring. In fact, and this is most notable in tracks like 'She's Alive', there's more of a subtle flavour of Spain oozing from the tracks. In fact, 'Before Disaster' reminded me, in places, of Michael Kamen's score for Licence to Kill.

The album contains 11 tracks (36 min, 48 sec) and while it's not an essential purchase, the score certainly has some impressive moments. There are two stand out tracks, if you're a fan of beautiful themes. There's an interesting segment which is found in 'Girls in a Cage' and then there's 'She's Alive' - which houses easily the most interesting theme here.
