Lakeshore Records release the original score for The Runner, composed by The Newton Brothers. In the aftermath of the 2010 BP oil spill, an idealistic but flawed politician is forced to confront his dysfunctional life after his career is destroyed in a sex scandal. Also stars Sarah Paulson, Connie Nielsen, Wendell Pierce, Bryan Batt and Peter Fonda... The score for The Runner is mellow, and a little trippy. It's the sort of music you could easily listen to while lying in a park looking up at the leaves of a tree and watching the world go by. You could, at a push, even listen to it whilst jogging. But I didn't get much out of it musically. While it's not bland, far from it, it's just not overly exciting. It doesn't appear to have a beginning, middle or end; no notable themes; and nothing to really make you want to put it on again once it's finished. In fact, I have to admit that I sort of zoned out while listening to it and when it ended... well, I couldn't tell you when it ended. I didn't hear it stop, I just noticed that I was listening to nothing, but I can't tell you how long after the album stopped I noticed it had done so. The album contains 22 tracks (39 min, 06 sec) and is one for those who like chilled out, background music to daydream to. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
