Perhaps it’s too much booze that’s got our swill-swigging heroine seeing double, or maybe there really is a doppelgänger on the scene! Whatever the case, it’s time for Tank Girl to solve the mystery of her pilfered Panzer! Maybe her friends Booga, Barney and Jet Girl can help. And Sub Girl – ah, yes, whatever happened to Sub Girl…? I needn’t have worried about Magnolia Jones being a younger, ‘replacement’ Tank Girl, lined up to take the place of the eponymous protagonist. In this issue, Magnolia is revealed to be of a similar age to Tank Girl, and the plot relies heavily upon our heroine’s numerous female peers, such as Jet Girl, who are all of an equivalent vintage. In a flashback sequence, we are reminded of the demise of Sub Girl, which in the strip as well as in reality happened more than twenty years ago. I have to say, Tank Girl and her pals are looking remarkably good for their age! Not looking so good are their various victims throughout this issue – members of the police who are after them (including a pair of Dastardly and Muttley lookalikes) plus some others who just happen to get in the way. The body count is high, as lorries explode and the unfortunate Sheriff Wyngarde gets gruesomely shot to bits. By the end of the episode, it’s more a case of several girls, one tank – and the usual amount of mayhem. 7 Richard McGinlay Buy this item online
