Plaza Major Company Ltd release Thierry Malet's score for 1910 Paris Sous Les Eaux. In the year 1910 the Seine burst its banks, leaving the French capital's streets submerged and bringing everything to a stand still. The movie follows a journalist and photographer from Petit Parisien, the leading newspaper of the time, as they traverse the Paris and examine how people are coping...

Thierry Malet's score for 1910, Paris Sous Les Eaux contains some interesting themes over the course of its 16 tracks (29 min, 39 sec).

I couldn't help but be reminded of Hans Zimmer's score for Sherlock Holmes (2009). The main theme for both is very similar, mainly due to the fact that an old fashioned, slightly out of tune, piano sound is used, but also structurally the themes are very similar.

It's a sound that works incredibly well, and once the score settles into the main tracks, you realise what a versatile composer Malet is. Tracks like 'Water Inside the Subway' are atmospheric and help to build the drama, while also adding interesting little bits of themes that are very short, but very beautiful.

It's got its humours side, with tracks like 'Funny Basson', as well as moments of quiet reflection, 'Sadness'. This is an interesting score that is well worth seeking out.
