Unfinished Business

Artist: Paul Brady
Label: Proper Records
RRP: £13.99
Release Date: 08 September 2017

Unfinished Business is Paul Brady's first new studio album in seven years. It represents his 15th solo album and follow-up to 2010’s acclaimed Hooba Dooba. The LP features nine new compositions and two traditional folk songs and mirrors the eclecticism of Brady’s long and varied musical journey...

With a career spanning five decades, the late '70s saw Brady heralded as a superlative interpreter of folk songs. His definitive versions of the likes of ‘Arthur McBride’, ‘Mary & The Soldier’ and ‘The Lakes Of Pontchartrain’ influenced countless singers, including Bob Dylan who covered all three. Part of the cultural fabric in Ireland, Brady was also honoured by the president of Ireland with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015.

Unfinished Business really does feel like a greatest hits compilation - in that every single song could have been a single released over various eras of Brady's career.

The LP contains 11 songs (44 min, 09 sec). The end result seems like a wonderful mash up of Folk, Country, Rock, Easy Listening from across the decades. This is a timeless album of instantly accessible tracks. Whether you're a lifelong fan of Brady's, or coming to this album fresh, this is a wonderfully melodic release.
