Offerings

Artist: Typhoon
Label: Rollcall Records
RRP: £13.99
Release Date: 12 January 2018

Offerings is the latest release from Typhoon, released through Rollcall Records. The album contains 14 songs (1 hr, 08 min, 28 sec). This is one of those releases that grows on you the more you listen to it - not only musically, but the album's message slowly drip feeds itself into your subconscious.

Singer/songwriter Kyle Morton reveals that he wanted the record to be a journey for the listener, like Dante's Inferno. It's very much a project born out of a fear and dread. The album tells the story of an individual and revolves around Morton's own interest in memory, losing memory and trying to recapture memory. What does a person become if they don't know where they come from? What is the essential quality of the person if you strip away all memory?

It's hard not to get caught up in both the music and the lyrics as the album unfolds. It's doubtful that you'll enjoy it on a first play through, though. My advice is listen to it, digest it and then listen to it again over the course of a week. Once you're hooked you'll wonder how you lived without it.
