Silva Screen Records release a digital album of music from the films of legendary directors Quentin Tarantino and Sergio Leone. The timeless Spaghetti Westerns soundtracks by Ennio Morricone, Luis Bacalov, and Riz Ortolani depict the iconic landscape of music, sounds and themes that defined an era. Each piece has been lovingly recrafted by London Music Works, who remain as faithful to the originals as possible...

Spaghetti Westerns have their own distinct formulaic scores. Even if you don't know the movie they're taken from... just a few notes of the theme and you instantly know the genre. Yet, despite this, each piece is very different. Themes from Spaghetti Westerns aren't everyone's first choice when it comes to picking a film score genre, but they're upbeat, have tunes you can whistle and perfectly capture the overall feel of this niche movie scene.

Arguably the master is Ennio Morricone, so it's no surprise to discover that his work provides the backbone for the entire album, but there are more modern outings to. I'm not really sure how much of a market there is for this genre, but if you're a fan then this is an interesting collection which is, as ever, wonderfully realised by London Music Works.
