Sheila Atim (The Underground Railroad) plays the lead in the adaptation of The Ballad of Halo Jones, Alan Moore and Ian Gibson’s groundbreaking feminist space opera. Originally appearing in British comic 2000 AD from 1984 and split into three books, the story follows the legend of Halo Jones exploring her origins and rise to heroic historical figure...

The Ballad of Halo Jones: The Complete Edition charts the history of one of 2000 AD's most popular characters. Book I explores her origins in the ghetto known as The Hoop. Book II followers her as she is employed as a stewardess on a year-long space voyage. Book III takes a darker turn and sees Jones as a soldier in a deadly intergalactic war.

Sheila Atim is the perfect choice for Jones. I don't know if she researched the role, or was a fan of the character... or just had some first rate voice direction, but almost immediately I warmed to her character. On balance almost all of the actors turn in incredibly believable performances.

An additional bonus for fans of the original story is that this isn't an adaptation where the producers have taken liberty with the original material. They have taken the original comic strip and used Alan Grant's script verbatim. This means that if you possess the original strips or graphic novel release you can also see Ian Gibson's original illustrations as the audio story unfolds.

I lovingly crafted audio drama that will draw in new listeners while still keeping the stories loyal fan base happy.
