Live the dream, cutting the lawns of houses you'll never be able to afford

Let's get one thing out of the way. If you're not a fan of sim games that task you with engaging in a rather dull and repetitive chore... then Lawn Mowing Simulator is not for you. Even within the world of sim fanatics there are games that are just too nerdy.

I have spent many enjoyable hours on Flight Simulator, Truck Driver and Bus Driver... to name just a few. Yes, I'm a nerd and I'm well aware that these are games that others would turn their noses up at. I've tried Farming Simulator and Crane Simulator but just didn't understand the appeal. For the most part that's also how I felt when I heard about Lawn Mowing Simulator. I mean, come on... If I want to cut the lawn I can just step outside. In fact I was well aware when I was playing this that my own lawn needed to be cut... but I couldn't be bothered... but somehow spending several hours cutting random strangers virtual gardens was starting to get... dare I say it... addictive.

Make sure your blades are raised when you're not on the grass

When you start the game you're given the option to choose your business name and logo, design your work attire and customise the look of your first employee. Then you get to try out one of three ride-on lawn mowers.

The game is simple enough. You have just started your own gardening business and as your reputation grows you have to hire more employees and buy new machinery. The meat of the game sees you going to customers homes and cutting their lawns. On the first job you'll get to use a ride on mower and a strimmer (to cut the lawn edges and other difficult areas). But before you start each job, it's worth quickly walking around the lawn and removing any objects that could damage your mower. Then it's simply a case of driving your mower from your trailer to the garden, lowering the blades, setting the correct cutter height and slowly cutting the grass. In a nutshell, that's pretty much it... but you also have to make sure you cut all of the grass without destroying any other plant life.

Keep those lines straight, or drive all over the place like a drunk... No one seems to care, as long as the grass is cut

This is a game that on paper sounds like an April Fool's joke. But it's surprisingly relaxing. Sure, it's not the sort of game I could sit and play for hours, but completing a job and returning weeks later to do another job will keep this game fresh for a long time to come.

If you're the sort of person who gets a kick out of doing really mind numbingly dull tasks, just to unwind and relax, then Lawn Mowing Simulator may deliver the zen like experience you've been seeking.
