Head out on the highway. Keep on trucking

It used to baffle me why there were so many truck driving simulation games on the market... until I actually tried one for my myself many years ago. It was then that I was hooked. There's something incredibly relaxing about being on the open road, the radio blasting, with a job to do.

With Truck Driver: The American Dream you start off from the position of being a novice driver as you slowly learn the ropes and climb up the career path to become a seasoned trucker as you head out on the high road.

As well as the jobs you are tasked with, you can also customise your ride, which will help to make the gaming experience a little more personal. Once again, though, I couldn't help wishing for a VR mode. This game would be so much more enjoyable if gamers were able to jump into the cab of their truck and immerse themselves in a more realistic environment. But, what we get is still enjoyable, immersive and a lot of fun.

It's a game you'll want to keep coming back to

When I started the game, however, I did have an issue with handling and speed. The truck seemed to over steer and the speed didn't really feel all that believable. After a while though I got used to the mechanics and settled in for an enjoyable ride.

It looks and plays well and it's certainly a game that you'll want to keep coming back to. I enjoyed my time with Truck Driver: The American Dream.
