Plaza Mayor Company Ltd releases Pablo Cervantes's original score for Anibal. The documentary tells the story of an icon of Seville, recognized worldwide as one of the most important architect. Aníbal González Álvarez-Ossorio was a Spanish architect who made important buildings in Seville and Madrid. He designed the Plaza de España and he was the chief architect of the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929 in Seville...

Whilst the score for Anibal may not be one of the longest (coming in at just 12 tracks - 14 min, 25 sec) what it lacks in duration it more than makes up for in quality. Composer Pablo Cervantes doesn't waste a single note here.

The album slowly builds as the tracks progress. The themes are varied and intricate and I was left feeling as though I'd listened to way more than the 14 minutes on offer. This is a memorable and compelling score that really surprised me. From the string plucking 'Conclusión Plaza España' to the piano based 'Degradado' to the flute solo at the centre of 'Fallecimiento Aníbal', Cervantes certainly uses the orchestra fully in order to create the greatest emotional impact.

If I had one slight complaint, it's that the final track 'Fallecimiento Aníbal', leaves the listener hanging. I wanted to hear so much more in a similar vein.
