Defeat over 50 enemy types

Blades of Fire is a challenging, deeply structured adventure game that sees you collecting material from your environment (by defeating enemies and destroying items with your weapon) which allow you to craft weapons to attack harder enemies. You can craft your own weapons at the forge, to your specifications and to suit your fighting style. Do you require a light weapon because you like to dodge your enemy and attack quickly? Or do you prefer a heavier item that is slow, but yields more damage when it connects with your foe? The chosen weapon family and the materials you create it from will affect characteristics such as weight, length, durability, penetration and edge quality. Choose between seven different weapon families and over 30 unique Forge Scrolls, which allow almost infinite weapon combinations.

When the game starts you are introduced to the forge, and shown how to fashion your weapons. It's worth taking a little time here, because the more accomplished you become the easier it is to construct better items later on.

Joining you on your adventure is Adso

Joining you on your adventure is Adso, a young apprentice who, whilst useless in physical battles, during combat, he does give helpful tips how to defeat enemies by analysing them and taking notes in his chronicles. He also is knowledgeable about the history and the environment you are in, and you can talk with him at any time to discover useful information. He will be crucial on your adventure, as he speaks the ancient forger language. If he becomes annoying, you can send him back to your camp.

There are over 50 enemy types, including the Queen’s guards, creatures, undead and more. Each enemy has its own unique attack style, weapon, and armour setup. You can lock onto any enemy in the environment and they will momentarily have a glowing outline. Red means you will not be able to penetrate their armour with your current weapon; Orange shows that battle will be a little harder and your weapon will take more damage than normal; and green means that you shouldn't have too much of a challenge dispatching that enemy.

If you die in combat then you will be transported back to the nearest save point (which also acts as a transportation stone that also allows you to visit your forge or travel to any of the other stones you've found on the map). However, you will have lost your current weapon and will need to travel back to that area to reclaim it. In addition, when you die, all defeated enemies (except bosses) are brought back to life.
