Chickenhare and the Treasure of Spiking-Beard is based on the graphic novel series about Chickenhare, who is part-chicken and part-rabbit, and his turtle friend, Abe. More recently, the franchise was spun off in to a series of animated movies. In the game you get the opportunity to play as Chickenhare, Abe and Meg (a skunk trained in martial arts) as you leap, climb, jump and glide across this 3D platform adventure.

Each character has their own unique abilities, which means that you will need to switch between them in order to progress through the levels. Chickenhare soars through the air, using his ears to glide past obstacles and reach new heights. Abe might be a little bit too cautious sometimes, but you can always count on him and his shell to destroy vulnerable structures and clear your way. Meg is the master of martial arts – she kicks, jumps, and even does both at the same time to reach higher places and even has a secret twist if she’s surrounded by a mob of enemies.

Play as Chickenhare, Abe and Meg

The camera is fixed throughout the game, moving when the game decides it can move. Whilst this does get away from the age old issue of the glitching free roam camera, it also means that it's not always easy to see everything you need to see on screen. It can also make judging and timing jumps a bit of a problem. But these issues are few and far between.

The graphics are well above average, and if you're a fan of the movies then you'll feel right at home here. The gameplay is classic platformer and the action comes thick and fast. This is the perfect game for young gamers. Having said that, more seasoned players will find this a little too formulaic.
