For fans of classic third-person survival horror games, Tormented Souls II has everything you could wish for. At its core is a creepy mystery that you'll slowly unpack as you traverse the atmospheric locations.

Welcome to Villa Hess. Explore a huge variety of unnerving locations within the town, including a shadowy convent, a derelict shopping mall, and an abandoned school. Alter your fate. Harness your supernatural powers to switch between realities, change the past to reshape the present, and search for alternate paths forged in the nightmarish 'other side'.

In the early stages I found myself wandering around with very little clue what was going on. The opening location is quite a large, sprawling building but thankfully the developers have ensured you're carefully guided (without it ever feeling that way) to where you're supposed to go. The puzzles, whilst not overly easy, are intuitive and it won't take too much brain power to ensure you keep moving forward.

I was very much reminded of the atmosphere and suspense I first witnessed when playing the original Resident Evil series of games on the PS1. If you don't fancy reliving the classic fixed-camera survival horror of the '90s with limited saves and tank controls, assisted mode offers a more casual experience.

With impressive graphics, atmospheric gameplay and a dark and twisted narrative, Tormented Souls II is an immersive and engaging entry into the retro survival horror genre.
