An entry level racer aimed at the younger gamer

Hot Wheels: Let's Race Ultimate Speed is an entry level racer aimed at the younger gamer out there. There's enough here to make it a game that parents can play with their offspring, but once the surface is scratched there's very little substance buried beneath.

The key features here are that fans of the show can play as their favourite characters whilst driving familiar vehicles from the series. Each car features a signature ability that is unique to that vehicle, so young gamers can quickly learn which car fits their playing style.

The game looks great, with big, bold graphics. The controls are easy to get to grips with. And, there are enough modes to keep young gamers entertained for a while. My biggest complaint is the retail price. What feels like a £20 game is being marketed as a £35 (basic) or £45 for the Deluxe Edition, which incorporates the High Voltage Speed Pack DLC (which includes 2 new high-performance Cars, 2 new themed track parts and 6 exclusive decals).

The build a track feature should add a level of longevity to the game, as young players can create their own wacky race tracks to race through.

If you can pick this up for under £20 then I'd go for it if you have little ones who are mad on the show.
