London Records has reissued Honey Lingers, the second studio album by British/American alternative pop band Voice of the Beehive. Originally released in August 1991, Honey Lingers was the band’s second consecutive Top 20 album, reaching Silver sales in the UK. Fully remastered, the new editions are released on limited edition Pink Vinyl LP and expanded 2CD...

While I was aware of Voice of the Beehive in the '90s, it's not a band I actually followed. In fact, I couldn't for the life of me recal a single one of their songs. It was only when listening to this remastered edition of their 1991 LP, Honey Lingers, that I realised I knew quite a lot of their songs.

For some reason, I always though of them as a '90s version of Bananarama. And I have to say, listening to this release, that I still think that's a pretty fair comparrison.

The follow up to 1988’s Let It Bee, Honey Lingers saw the band - Californian vocalist sisters Tracey Bryn Belland and Melissa Brooke Belland - build further on their signature mix of jangly guitars and melodic pop hooks, edging closer to a glossier, more mainstream sound.

The 2-disc CD release incorporates 39 tracks (2 hrs, 16 min, 44 sec) which includes not only a remastered version of the original album, but alternate versions, remixes and live recordings.

If you fondly remember Voice of the Beehive, then this is certainly an album worthy of your time. I have to admit that I enjoyed listening to this... and I wasn't a huge fan of theirs back in the day.
