Orbit is Maximilien Mathevon's latest electronic album. It's a trippy, chill out collection of ambient themes which showcase the composer's skill at expertly manipulating the senses. The album's 7 parts (42 min, 16 sec) take us on a journey of discovery. It's left very much up to the imagination of the listener what the inspiration is and what the intended message is. The album's closing 'Orbit 7' offers up the only narrative with a repetitive sound byte which is enveloped by a collection of electronic set pieces. There's the usual parallels to be drawn with both Jean-Michel Jarre and Vangelis but, as usual, Mathevon delivers original, multi-layered material that's timeless and intricate. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
