Simone Cilio delivers 20 tracks (42 min, 05 sec) of classic monster movie fare with his score for Snake Creek. It's a lovingly crafted collection of themes, which hark back to a bygone era - beautifully bringing the genre back to life.

'First Attack' appears to pay homage to Bernard Herrmann, being reminiscent of his work on Jason and the Argonauts. 'Searching For Help' was one of the standout tracks for me. It has a foot lovingly rooted in the past, whilst remaining fresh and modern.

Cilio, as he has many times previously (The Forest Through the Trees; Gunner; Lockdown; Rumpelstiltskin), delivers to the brief. He never appears to resort to repeating themes and styles across his scores (like Hollywood greats including John Williams, James Horner and John Barry were renowned for). Every project is a clean slate. And for that reason alone his work deserves to be worthy of your attention.

From the choral 'The Hero' to the Rockerbilly 'My Best Trip Ever', there's something to engage you in every single track. I loved what Cilio delivered here. Another captivating soundtrack that works so well as a standalone album.
