Four Generations is an interesting collection. Over the course of these four works (14 tracks - 1hr, 11 min, 35 sec) cellist Patrick Moore and pianist Andrew Staupe perform works from 1945 through to 2014.

The pairing of cello and piano is a curious one, but one that pays off here. Nowhere is this more evident than in Karl Blench's 'Dreams and Hallucinations'; an eerie and unsettling collection of themes. Meanwhile, the opening 'Élégie for Violoncello and Piano' showcases the ethereal beauty that can be generated by the pairing of both instruments.

This is an intriguing collection which, on occasion, experiments with a more avant-garde approach to composition.
