The original soundtrack to Los Tres Polos, with music by composers Alejandro Karo and Mayra Lepró, is released via Plaza Mayor Company Ltd. The feature follows three generations of men from a single family. The grandfather, father, and son immerse themselves in local traditional horse racing, working together to manage their stable and participate in regional ranch and ejido horse races...

The score for Los Tres Polos is an interesting one. The composers use electronic music in such a subtle, beautiful way, that it's hard not to get behind. The album contains 18 tracks (23 min, 50 sec) and is more an EP than it is an album... but don't let that put you off.

Discussing his involvement with the movie, composers Alejandro Karo and Mayra Lepró say: "Los Tres Polos, directed by Lalo Hernández, was the first project we collaborated on as a duo, back in 2020. This score is one we’ve been eager to share and release, as it gave us the opportunity to explore electronic music in a way we had never done before in film. The documentary is full of action and energy, and we approached the music as if scoring a high-speed car race, a momentum that, we believe, translates surprisingly well to the world of horse racing. Five years have passed since we composed this score, and we truly believe the wait will have been worth it for festival audiences."

There is an underlying theme which permeates the album; dipping in and out as the tracks progress. It neatly holds everything firmly together and it was interesting to hear that this theme also acts as a bookend - opening and closing the album. Meanwhile, 'Perder O Ganar' is ethereal, and possibly this album's most emotionally charged piece.

I enjoyed my time with Los Tres Polos and could so easily have listened to so much more in a similar vein.
