Manairons is inspired by the legends of little creatures living in the Pyrenees. Help Nai face off against the landowner who has taken control of a charming village using the power of the "canut," with magic, flute, and plenty of chaos. The Manairons are back… and this time, they’re not staying quiet...
Manairons is a 3D action platformer game set in the Pyrenees, where ancient legends mix with smoking factories, mischievous magic, and quirky little creatures. You play as a manairó who has just awakened from centuries locked in the "canut", a magical artifact as old as it is suspicious. With the help of ancient magical melodies (and a few poorly played notes), you’ll control your fellow manairons and solve puzzles that’ll make you scratch your head. It's quite a cute game and whilst I felt the animation was a little run-of-the-mill in the opening stages, it's not long before there are some impressive set pieces that make the game feel well polished. Your main weapon is your flute, which you can use to perform tunes to undertake various tasks. You can can also whack any beasties with it, or send them to sleep. The levels are based around various businesses in the district. Your goal is to free any Manairons that are being treated as slaves.
It's really a platformer for the younger gamer in your household. If I had one complaint a lot of the levels have quite tight platforms. This means that, when you've worked out what you need to do, navigating your way there without falling can be a little tedious. Thankfully, if you run out of energy and you have to respawn at the previous save point, any progress you've made with the puzzles will still be intact. It's a cute, original little game which will keep little ones entertained for a while. Just make sure you're on hand to help them navigate some of the more precision heavy elements of the levels. 7 Nick Smithson
