It's your first day as a security officer in a mysterious building designed by an unknown architect. Within its vast stairwell, you are tasked with inspecting the floors for reported strange phenomena. Make your way through the building and carefully choose which way to go based on your findings. If everything is normal, proceed upstairs. If you notice an anomaly, go downstairs...

There are over 50 anomalies to uncover

The Stairwell is a psychological horror game where you are tasked with finding the anomalies on each level in order to progress to the next floor.

You play as a guard in a strange museum. The artefacts are displayed in a stairwell that runs up to the next floor.

Each floor is identical in decor. However you have to ascertain whether the floor you are currently on has an anomaly in it. If it does you need to descent the stairs to the floor below. If it doesn't, then you'll need to ascend the stairs to the floor above. If you make the right call, you will move up a floor. If you fail, then you go down a floor. This is a process you'll repeat until you reach the tenth floor.

There are over 50 anomalies to uncover between all difficulties. You can customize the difficulty of your playthrough, and there's even a a "nightmare" mode, in which you have to find anomalies in total darkness with your candle.

Some of the anomalies are obvious - a monster may charge at you, the room may flood - whilst others are a lot more subtle. You'll need to familiarise yourself with every aspect of the level before you can comfortably reach the tenth floor. Although, you could guess each floor... but the odds are not in your favour.

I found this to be a fun, rather challenging game, that made me question my own eyes. For the price, this is a must buy for fans of the genre.
