In The Shore, you are tasked with discovering the truth behind the island that you are on and what happened to your daughter. You'll roam a desolate and mysterious island inspired by Lovecraftian mythos. You must traverse abandoned villages, ancient temples and otherworldly landscapes steeped in dread as you crawl ever closer to unpicking the mysteries of the island.

The Shore is straight out of the walking simulator camp, but with a Lovecraftian theme. The first half of the game starts promisingly, adding the right amount of mystery and atmosphere. However, the second half drops the ball a little.

It's visually impressive and a total steal at £16. However, at the time of playing there was no option to invert the camera controls. For me, someone who likes to reverse the Y-axis, this made the game incredibly hard to play... and certainly broke a lot of the immersion.

For those that enjoy walking simulators, there's plenty to sink your teeth into here. It's just a shame that the second half of the game never quite delivers on the promising start.
