There are jump scares but there's no real horror element here

Evil Inside VR is a reworking of the flat game. But the developers claim that it's not just a simple adaptation for virtual reality, that it’s a complete reimagining of the original story, rebuilt to deliver a new, deeper, and more terrifying psychological horror experience. With significant changes in gameplay, lighting, sound, and puzzle design, this version completely transforms the way you experience Mark’s nightmare.

They claim that the game has rebuilt puzzles, more realistic lighting, immersive spatial sound, and a renewed narrative flow. But that doesn't get away from the fact that most seasoned gamers will be able to complete the game in under an hour... And there's very little replayability value to it.

Evil Inside VR is a reworking of the flat game

The game is set in the same corridor, which alters each time you go back around. Ghost Town VR has a short segment that has a similar design, using one corridor setting which you have to constantly go around in order to further the game. That was spookier, more atmospheric and, in general just way more interesting than what Evil Inside VR delivers.

There are jump scares, which just feel random, but there's no real horror element here - other than the rooms having atmospheric lighting and sound.

I found this a pretty dull experience - but the ability to pick up an easy platinum trophy may tempt some to add this to their collection.
