Bruised and battered, Jared, Simon and Mallory return home to find their house completely ransacked. The evil Mulgarath has made off with their mother and Spiderwick's Guide. With only the help of Thimbletack, Hogsqueal and Byron, the children must defeat Mulgarath and his goblin army - but first they have to rescue Arthur Spiderwick from Lorengorm and the elves...

The Wrath of Mulgarath is the final adventure in the Spiderwick Chronicles series. Although, in all honesty it's not necessary that you are up to speed on what has gone before.

Mark Hamill, who sadly is still being credited as "Star Wars' Luke Skywalker" (and even sadder is the fact that "Luke Skywalker" appears in bigger print than "Mark Hamill" on the front of this CD), reads this audio book with a lot of thought. Instead of simply reading the words and adding slightly different voices for his character, he actually goes the full hog and gives us some great vocal interpretations of how he feels the characters sound.

What we are left with is a Frank Oz inspired collection of voices (like a cross between Yoda, Fozzie Bear and Hoggle from Labyrinth) for Thimbletack and Hogsquel. These seriously help to add to the atmosphere and keep children from losing interest.

The story starts with an introduction by Holly Black, one of the writers, that explains how this story came about. If you are a fan of the books, then this audio book will make a welcome addition to your collection.

This release will please fans of the series.
