Masters of Fantasy is an annual digital publication which
provides an arena for up and coming artists. The art is judged
by a panel of well respected fantasy artists before inclusion...
I
have to admit that I'm not a great fan of fantasy artwork,
a genre I always felt had quite a restricted number of motifs,
themes and styles - it always seems to be full of large breasted
ladies wielding impossible large swords, so I was pleasantly
surprised to discover that this particular genre holds a lot
more diversity than I had at first thought.
So
what do you get for you money, well if your feeling altruistic,
you will be helping out some struggling young talent looking
for an audience, and boy are their a lot of artists on this
disc for you to browse, way too many to list individually.
If you like fantasy art there are over three hundred and fifty
pictures that you can look at. There is pretty much something
for everybody here. The disc contains the usual fairies and
large breasted women as well as some real oddities.
Navigation
through the pictures is accomplished either by showing them
as a slideshow or by browsing the individual thumb nailed
pictures. The disc also contains the contact information for
each of the artists, so you can email them to say how much
you loved their stuff, or how much it sucked.
As
an artists resource it's a good idea but I'm not sure just
how wide a universal appeal it has, after all, if you're looking
for wallpaper for your computer then there's more than enough
free stuff on the net. Still, I guess that there is a market
out there for discs of pretty pictures as this is Volume
Three, personally I just can't see it, but if it floats
your boat, you're getting a lot of art for a very reasonable
remuneration.
