It's a fresh start for Batgirl. Cassandra Cain is building
a new life for herself in Bludhaven - a city more corrupt
than Gotham City. But with the Penguin also moving to town
and setting up a new criminal empire, can Batgirl keep the
streets safe, or will she face something more sinister and
vile than ever before? With the Brotherhood of Evil, Deathstroke
and the Ravager coming at her one after the other, Batgirl
barely has the chance to settle into her new neighbourhood
before the fists start to fly...
Kicking
Assassins
is set at the start of Batgirl's reign in Bludhaven. Still
new to the warped city, we get to see a slightly more human
side to Cassandra Cain as she attempts to not only fit into
her new night-time surroundings, but also blend into normal
society during the day. But can she lead a duel life like
Bruce Wayne?
Batgirl
also manages to bag her first grass - a coward who keeps her
informed on what is going down on the streets of Bludhaven.
And that's exactly what she needs, as Penguin seems to be
attempting to move in on the crime world of Bludhaven and
is causing something of a problem.
But
that's nothing compared to the headache that Deathstroke will
bring on when he introduces his new protégé
- his daughter the Ravager. Should Batgirl kill this trainee
fighter now, before she learns to be a serious contender?
Or send her away to lick her wounds, knowing that she will
come back stronger in the future? Whatever she decides, one
thing is certain, Batman has it a whole lot easier in Gotham
City.
A
neat, tight script is wonderfully complimented by a stunning
collection of artwork. Whether you are a Batgirl fan or not,
this release is worth picking up.
