On a rescue mission to the planet Vandos, Padawan Flynn Kybo
and his master T'chooka D'oon come face-to-face with General
Grievous, the vicious cyborg leader of the Separatist army.
After Grievous murders master D'oon, Kybo returns to the Jedi
Council with a plan to destroy the depraved general and end
his Jedi-murdering ways forever. But when the council rebukes
his plans for vengeance, Kybo decides to take matters in his
own hands...
Titans's
latest Star Wars themed graphic novel, General Grievous,
is not what you'll be expecting. With a title like General
Grievous, you'd be forgiven for expecting to read a collection
of Star Wars themed tales that see the mechanical monster
going about his dirty business. What we get is a fairly run-of-the-mill
tale that sees Grievous playing second fiddle to the tale
of two Jedi who are on his tail.
As
well told, and illustrated, as this release is, there's just
not enough of Grievous to warrant his name on the cover. Not
only that, but there's not really much of a story either.
It's not very original, and it's certainly not that exciting
- which is amazing when you consider Chuck Dixon wrote it.
While
this release is far from awful, it could have been so much
better - like having Grievous at the centre for starters.
It's certainly not a patch on the earlier Darth
Maul release.
I'm
in my thirties, and I came away peeved, so goodness knows
what those young, new Star Wars fans will make of this
if they are expecting some kick ass tales with the coolest
robot warrior in the galaxy.
