With their headquarters destroyed and the team disbanded,
a desperate group of former Leaguers gather for one last time
to honour their legacy and to say goodbye to a fallen friend.
But the reappearance of an old enemy reminds some in attendance
that the League's mission must not end - though with multiple
crises converging across the galaxy, and Earth's mightiest
heroes off-world, can there be a future for the JLA as we
know it...?
World
Without a Justice League
continues the Infinite Crisis thread that has woven
its way throughout the DC universe. While it does (just about)
work as a standalone tale, you'll get far more out of this
collection if you are up to speed on the events that have
gone before.
As
the events of the infinite crisis rage on, Batman has left
the league, Wonder Woman is on trial for murder and Superman
is in self-imposed exile. As Green Arrow and a host of other
heroes try to keep the dying embers of the JLA alight, the
world's super-villains run riot.
The
story and art work are well above average for what has got
to be one of the most stretched out plotlines in the history
of comics. While I'm not disputing how clever the whole idea
is, I have to admit to getting a little tired of the same
basic story being revisited time and time again.
If
you've been following the Infinite Crisis story line,
then this will add another piece to the puzzle.
