The titanic battle between the clans rages on. Akeginu and
the blinded Oboro of the Iga clan encounter a powerful aristocrat
named Ofuku, who will do whatever it takes to make her godson,
Takechiyo, the next Shogun. If Ofuku and her troops join forces
with the Iga, will the Kouga still have a chance at victory?
Meanwhile, the Kouga leader, Gennosuke, also blinded, and
his comrades - including the shapeshifter Saemon and the deadly
seductress Kagerou - embark on a long journey to Sunpu to
find out exactly why the truce was dissolved. They in turn
will face the fury of the calculating Tenzen and the whirlwind-wielding
Koshirou. In the end, who will survive this bloody game of
deception and politics...?
Volume
4 of Basilisk: The Kouga Ninja Scrolls sees the
feud between the Iga and the Kouga clans continuing uninterrupted.
As this collection opens, only four members of each clan are
still alive. The four remaining Kouga clan members have taken
it upon themselves to find out why this bloody war has been
raged. Why was it that peace between the two clans broke down?
On
their journey they spot a hawk that is carrying a scroll.
They soon realise that it is Oboro's hawk - which means that
the Iga clan must be nearby. If they are to escape alive and
continue with their quest they will need to tread carefully.
Do the Iga know they are there? Or are they still looking
for them?
The
artwork is much more impressive than the majority of mangas
on the market, and the writing, if a little clichéd
in parts, provides plenty of twists and turns. Certainly worth
picking up.
