Hana's life as a loner - in school and at home - brightens
only when she's masquerading as someone else online or chilling
with her imaginary BFF (Best Friend Forever), rock star Avril
Lavigne. But Hana's daily grind is finally going to change
thanks to the demon she's purchased from the mysterious website
Make5Wishes.com. At last Hana's going to be popular, her parents
are going to stop fighting, her world is going to be as perfect
as she's always dreamed. So how could Hana's best-laid plans
for happiness turn to tragedy? Perhaps because everything
has its price...
Volume
2 of
Avril Lavigne's Make 5 Wishes continues the story that
started in Volume
1. As I mentioned in my review of Volume
1, this collection really should have been released as
a single volume - it's not as though they are particularly
page heavy in the first place.
I
find it a bit of a cheek that this release is being marketed
as "Avril Lavigne's Make 5 Wishes" when it's
obvious that the only input she's had is allowing her name
and likeness to be used in the story. In truth it could be
just about any popstar, or film star that a girl of school
age could be into. Unfortunately this means that it will probably
put non-Lavigne fans off purchasing it - which is a shame
because this is a great little tale.
If
you want a taster then simply head over to www.make5wishes.com
to check out the story. This website is currently running
the story in webisodes which reprint almost all of the original
illustrations with speech bubbles and background music by
Lavigne.
The
conclusion is not what I was expecting. I thought this was
going to be more of a teenage girly story, so was pleasantly
surprised to see that this has quite a few nasty shocks awaiting
readers.
If
you are looking for something a little different, then this
two book collection could be what you're after.
