The Transformers are sentient robots with the ability to alter their form. Hailing from the planet Cybertron, where a war between two factions endlessly rages, the honourable Autobots do battle against the tyrannical Deceptions - for the good of the universe. Optimus Prime and Megatron go head-to-head in the ultimate battle of the 'bots. Who will survive... and who will end up on the scrap heap?... Transformers: Adventures: Volume 1 is the first in a new series of mini (and I do mean "mini") graphic novels from Titan Books. This series is designed as a prequel to the 2007 movie and, with that in mind, is sure to appeal to the younger generation who have only recently discovered this franchise. This volume is written by Simon Furman, who Transformers fans will know is about the most prolific Transformers writer there is. If nothing else, at least you know with this series that it's in the hands of someone who knows what he's doing. In amongst the stories, there are pages dedicated to different transformer robots - a sort of Who's Who of the Transformers universe if you like. To be honest this is a little too expensive for what you get. There are only 82 pages (including covers) and it's slightly smaller than A5 in size. While younger Transformers fans will no doubt lap this up, I can't really recommend this to anyone else. 4 Pete Boomer |
