What begins as a simple burglary ends as an interstellar epic when an ancient Kryptonian artefact is stolen. While the Dark Knight investigates the robbery, Superman begins showing signs of overwhelming fear and paranoia. The trail ends for both heroes on the planet Apokolips, where Darkseid takes control of the Man of Steel and Batman falls under the seductive spell of Bekka, sworn enemy of the dark god. On opposite sides of vicious combat and battling intense emotional onslaughts, will the world's finest partnership endure... or will a great darkness once again spread over the universe...? Torment collects Superman/Batman issues #37-42. This volume takes the Dark Knight and Superman from the streets of Gotham to the outer reaches of Apokolips in a quest that pits them against Darkseid, Scarecrow, Killer Croc and more. When Clark Kent is driven mad and then kidnapped by Desaad as part of a terrible plan to restore the Omega Power of Darkseid, Batman comes to the rescue - but is rescued himself by Bekka, the beautiful wife of New God Orion. Can he put aside his desire for the Goddess of Love in order to save the Man of Steel? This is not a collection that the casual Batman/Superman fan can jump right into and work out what's going on. If you want to get the most out of this collection then you'll need to be up on both the Batman and Superman universes. Alan Burnett weaves an exciting tale which is well illustrated by Dustin Nguyen. One for die-hard fans who are looking for a little more meat from their comics. 8 Pete Boomer Buy this item online |
