More than four years after the male-killing plague scoured the Y chromosome from the planet, the saga of Earth's two surviving males is about to come to a close. The remaining trio of Yorick, Ampersand and Agent 355 are at last approaching Paris, where Yorick's long-lost fiancee Beth awaits - along with the heavily armed women who have been hunting him across land and sea. There, in the City of Lights the last man's search will finally end - or so it seems... And so Y: The Final Man comes to an end with this the tenth volume, collecting issues #55-60 of the comic book series. Yorick Brown’s long journey through an Earth populated only by women comes to a dramatic, unexpected conclusion. As Yorick heads towards what he hopes will be a happy reunion with fiancee Beth, secrets are revealed and a final showdown has a horrifying outcome. The punchline at this graphic novel's conclusion isn't what I was expecting - it's a bit corny, especially after the writers have already had already dealt with one plot twist by having Yorick being frustrated by what he called a very stupid punchline. To be honest, I found that twist interesting, it was the collection's final panel that I found a little silly. Personally, I thought that a better ending would have been the storyline that sees Yorick and Ampersand battling through the snow to visit an old friend - now that section really tugged at the old heart strings. The ten graphic novels in this collection have been uniformly entertaining. This has been a fantastic series and it's just a shame that it all had to come to an end. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online |
