After believing that they have wiped out the Ori, SG-1 are in search of an Ancient artefact they hope can enlighten the Ori's slaves, giving them their old lives back. However it appears that the Ori may not be dead after all, and may be about to launch a final assault on Earth...

The Ark of Truth concludes the Stargate: SG-1's Ori story arc, taking the place of the show's anticipated but cancelled 11th series. In this made for DVD movie, SG-1 tries to reclaim the Ark of Truth, which has the power to control people, and therefore, can lead to total destruction if it falls into the wrong hands. So it's down to Cameron Mitchell, Samantha Carter, Teal’c, Daniel Jackson and Vala Mal Doran to track down the long lost ancient artefact before someone else does. But things are not going to be that simple - there's the Ori's followers, a double-crossing International Oversight Advisory (IOA) operative, and an enemy from the past to deal with.

Some might moan that the producers tried too hard to appease all fans by squeezing in way too much and resurrect a past enemy that they thought they'd seen the end of.

In all honesty I think that SG-1 fans will really enjoy this release. Everything is neatly wrapped up, all of the characters get their own moment on screen and the story is action packed from start to finish. It's just a shame that the show's creators didn't get another season in which to really flesh this out more. But, fans should be thankful that they get to see the story arc wrapped up at all.

Extras include an Audio Commentary with Robert C. Cooper, Christopher Judge and Peter Woeste (not one of the best I've ever heard. There's very little worth repeating other than the homage to Raiders of the Lost Ark that's slipped in and the additional end scene which was dropped, that was a teaser for the next movie); Stargate SG-1: The Road Taken - Prelude to Stargate SG-1: The Ark of Truth (9 min - another chance to watch the prelude that was also listed on the main menu. This is basically a recap on the events, that have already unfolded, that you need to know to fully appreciate this movie) Uncovering The Ark of Truth (29 min, 48 sec behind the scenes footage. The highlight, for me, was the gel that the effects team created that allows them to blast someone's face with a flamethrower (like you do) without harming them) The Ark of Truth: Stargate at Comic-Con (29 min, 48 sec footage recorded at Comic-Con. This includes a very amusing Q&A with cast and crew. Worth watching for the singing Stargate guy alone); and Stargate: Continuum Promo (access to exclusive content via a code included in the DVD pack. I'm not sure if this will be included or what it will feature, as the promo disc we received had no mention of it).

An impressive movie which should appease all those that thought that the final episode of the show's tenth season was a bit of a disappointment.
