Transformers fans can take control of all their favourite Autobot characters, including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Bulkhead and Prowl and use them to work together in order to reclaim the lost fragments of the Allspark before the Decepticons intercept it and claim Cybertron as their own...

Transformers: Animated - The Game is based on the animated television series of the same name - and is only available on the Nintendo DS.

You start off with the ability to control a set number of Transformers (this changes from level to level). Each has their own special ability and the idea is to use all of the Transformers at your disposal in order to get past all of the obstacles and get to the end of the level. This isn't just a game you can bash your way through, and you'll have to use your brain to work out which Transformer must be used where and, as the levels progress, you'll have to think harder and harder as the puzzles become more complex.

There is also the odd interesting level in which you control one Transformer as they drive down a motorway. You must avoid the cars on the road and, when you see an airborne enemy, transform into a robot and attack them with your weapon.

Overall I was pretty impressed with this game. While some more seasoned gamers will find this a little too easy, the game is really designed for young fans of the show. The developers have devised a platform style game that challenges the player, while still offering an interesting story that will appeal to fans of the animated series. There are unlockable movies as well as surprisingly good vocal acting (I'm guessing they've used the voices of the animated series actors). And you also get a pretty cool reworking of the Transformers theme along with opening titles. While none of these elements on their own make a good game, their inclusion here helps to add that little extra polish to turn this into a game fans of the TV show will be proud to own.
