Following
on from Stagate
SG-1 The Illustrated Companion,
which covered seasons one and two, volume two continues the
saga, with full details of all 44 episodes in seasons 3 &
4. Story synopses are followed by extensive commentary and
detailed behind-the-scenes information. It also features interviews
with the producers, directors, writers, SFX crew and stars...
Guide
books are always tricky books to review properly. If the information
inside is correct and they give you a little background information
as well then they have performed adequately. However, if you
don't want a book full of episode synopsis then you won't
want to read a guide book.
Gibson's
first guide was fairly well received here and the main criticisms
we had were not down to her but to Titan's insistence on releasing
"Illustrated" books that had no colour photography.
Again, I'm sorry to say the presentation lets down an above
average book.
It
is obvious that Gibson has a great deal of fun writing these
books (her creative picture captioning, while not always as
funny as it could be, is proof of that). If you are after
content then this is pretty good but if you are after glossy
images from seasons 3 & 4 then I suggest you look elsewhere.
