When Xena happens upon a slave auction she is concerned
as to why so much money is being offered for a pregnant young
woman. Her concerns are elevated when one of those bidding
for the young slave suddenly crumples to dust...
Slave
is not, unfortunately, up to the usual high standards of John
Wagner's work and doesn't really move at any great pace.
The
illustrations vary from section to section and it is a little
strange that a total of five artists were involved in bringing
Xena to life. It shows, with the artwork varying from excellent
to poor.
However,
Cleopatra's appearance provides some much needed plot development
and prevents this book from being truly dire. This is a book
for Xena fanatics only.
