A sinister presence stirs among the charred rubble of what
used to be Sunnydale High. It seems that the ghost of Sunydale's
former Mayor has a bone to pick with Buffy. Now, on top of
the dealing with the nightmares about a certain raven-haired,
trash-talking Slayer, she's got a body-snatching poltergeist
stalking her every moment she's awake. Buffy's left to face
the thing without knowing who's hand guides it, armed only
with an enigmatic message from Faith - "You're already dead"...
Set
between season three and four, Haunted is the only
graphic novel to star Faith. Quite a fun story, it shows how
Mayor Wilkins's cannot let go, even after finally dying, and
he manages to find a way to control the bodies of the dead
- in many forms and reek havoc for Buffy and her friends.
Buffy has no idea what or who this body-snatching villain
is, and is suffering herself due to some traumatic nightmare
stand-off's with Faith.
Of
course the Mayor is beaten, but do the guys ever find out
it's him? A quirkily little story written by one of Buffy's
main TV writers Jane Espenson, it's short and to the point,
but still quite a fun read.
